At SAP, we learned over the past 5 years that we are able to build better software solutions with Lean Development, Scrum and Agile Engineering Practices - a transformation affecting the entire development organization of about 20,000 developers world-wide. Moreover, “Design Thinking” is being introduced and scaled up for innovation topics. The combination of both practices has proven to be successful in enterprise software context. Design Thinking had an immediate impact on effectiveness (i.e. to build the right things) as well as Scrum and agile engineering on our efficiency and quality (building things right). The respective method sets complement each other and enhance existing agile development practices. As of today, there’s a very experienced and broad world-wide community of coaches and trainers at SAP. Moreover, there are distinct methods and practice for agile software engineering in combination with particular SAP technology and platforms. The session explains how we successfully enhanced Scrum with agile engineering and design thinking practices on a large and global scale including up-to-date real-world examples from SAP projects.

Dr. Tobias Hildenbrand

SAP AG
Dr. Tobias Hildenbrand arbeitet seit 2009 bei der SAP AG und leitete dort zunächst das Program Office für die weltweite Umsetzung von Lean in der Entwicklungsorganisation. Heute fungiert er als interner Berater für Entwicklungsprojekte, Scrum-Mentor, Continuous Improvement-Experte und Design Thinking-Coach. Bevor er zur SAP kam, promovierte er im Rahmen eines Industrieprojekts mit Banken und Software-Anbietern zum Thema “Nachvollziehbarkeit von Anforderungen in verteilten Entwicklungsprojekten” an Universität Mannheim sowie an der University of California in Irvine. Dr. Hildenbrand ist auch heute noch als externer Dozent an der Universität Mannheim im Master-Programm aktiv.

Christian Süssenbach

Universität Mannheim
Christian Süssenbach hat sein Bachelorstudium in Wirtschaftsinformatik an der Universität Mannheim absolviert. Seit 2011 studiert er im Masterstudiengang Wirtschaftsinformatik an der Universität Mannheim und schreibt momentan seine Masterarbeit in Kooperation mit der SAP AG im Bereich der Kombination von Design Thinking mit agiler Softwareentwicklung.
