Improving Team Effectiveness

The people that really bring value to a company are not the individual performers. They are the people who can get others to perform.

Chances are, you work in a team. What makes a team successful? How can you improve the teams you are part of? How can you be invited to join the best-performing teams?

Google conducted a four-year study called Project Aristotle, sinking a lot of money into finding out what makes teams successful. In this talk I will briefly describe the results of their research, and explain why you should apply what they discovered at your workplace, and how you can do that.

We’ll focus on psychological safety, what it means and how you can create it. “Why programmers should be nice”.

If you’re a technically-minded person, then whether you like it or not, improving how you interact with others is probably more important for your career and your job satisfaction than any technical subject you could learn today.
