Building a scalable mobile application on Google Cloud Platform

In this session we give an overview on several services of the Google Cloud Platform and showcase an Android application utilizing these technologies. We cover technologies, such as Google App Engine, Cloud Endpoints, Cloud Storage, Cloud Datastore and Google Cloud Messaging (GCM). We will talk about pitfalls, show meaningful code examples (in Java) and provide several tips and dev tools on how to get the most out of Google’s Cloud Platform. Furthermore, we will showcase a combination of our social Android application and an Android Wear companion leveraging these services to communicate with our scalable backend.

Kurzbiographie der Referenten: Wir sind alle drei Master Studenten an der HS Karlsruhe in dem Studiengang Information Technology. Zusätzlich haben wir seit bald 4 Jahren eine Anstellung bei SAP und sind dort in verschiedenen Bereichen tätig (Security, Big Data Research, Application Development). Nebenbei haben wir auch an mehreren Nebenprojekten zusammengearbeitet mit Fokus auf Mobile Applications für den Consumer Bereich. Eines dieser Projekte ist Drop – ein location-based social network – das wir Ende Dezember im Play Store veröffentlicht haben.
